In December 2017, NUOVOSTUDIO and GESIDI Eng. and Architecture of Rome, grouped under the common name GEAKONS, were selected by Turkish Airlines as participants in the International Invitational Competition organized by the Turkish flag carrier for the design of the areas of business and first lounges class of the new Istanbul airport, the largest airport in the world. After delivering the first phase project, GEAKONS was among the groups admitted to the second phase.
The in-depth study requested was presented to the commission, at the Istanbul office, in March 2018. The central idea of the project, spread over an area of 19,000 square meters, was from the first proposal the so-called "FLOW", a great element curvilinear that combines, as an ideal fil rouge, all the multiple spaces and functions required by the competition announcement.
