Residences in via Mazzini

Ravenna, Italy, 2003-2006 Photography © Maurizio Montanari

This restoration project in Ravenna’s historic centre has transformed a large single-family townhouse into a small apartment building, through the renewal of its oldest part and the refurbishment of the parts built after World War II. The restoration of the historic part uncovered decorated wooden floors, probably from the 16th century; while at the back of the house a new courtyard was designed with a contemporary flavor, where small architectural artifices have expanded the perception of the spaces.

The intervention was selected by the editorial staff of the magazine Casabella and published in the 2006 Almanacco dell'Architettura Italiana.
